Archiving and Long-Term Preservation Policy
The journal Smart Economy, Entrepreneurship and Security ensures long-term preservation, archiving, and continuous open access to all published materials in accordance with the principles of open science, FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), and international standards of scholarly publishing. The journal is committed to maintaining the integrity, accessibility, and durability of the scholarly record.
Repositories and Storage Systems
The journal’s content is preserved and replicated across multiple independent platforms and systems, including the official journal platform based on Open Journal Systems (OJS), the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN) for long-term digital preservation, and distributed archiving systems such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe). Additional preservation is supported through national repositories, including the Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine, as well as institutional and subject repositories via author self-archiving. Journal content may also be preserved within international indexing and abstracting databases where the journal is indexed.
Technical Preservation Measures
To ensure the reliability and accessibility of digital objects, the journal implements regular data backups with geographic redundancy and maintains secure server infrastructure to protect against unauthorized access and data loss. Standardized file formats such as PDF/A and XML (JATS) are used to support long-term preservation. Each article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) through Crossref, ensuring persistent identification and access. Metadata are maintained in accordance with international standards, including Dublin Core and Crossref XML.
Open Access and Self-Archiving
All journal materials are published in open access without financial, technical, or temporal restrictions for users. The journal allows authors to deposit preprints, postprints, and final published versions of their articles in institutional or subject repositories, on personal or institutional websites, and on scholarly communication platforms, provided that appropriate attribution to the original publication is included.
Guarantees of Long-Term Availability
The journal ensures continuous access to scholarly content through distributed archiving, maintaining multiple independent copies, and utilizing established long-term preservation systems such as PKP PN and LOCKSS. Ongoing maintenance of the journal’s web platform and the use of DOI infrastructure ensure stable identification and access. Access to archived materials is preserved even in the event of the journal’s discontinuation.
Compliance with International Standards
The journal’s archiving policy complies with open access requirements, DOAJ criteria, and international best practices in digital preservation, ensuring the availability, integrity, and long-term usability of scholarly content.
